siliconindia to honor top 100 tech companies founded by Indians
By    siliconindia news bureau
Wednesday, October 8, 2008
Fremont: si100, the annual listing of the top 100 technology companies founded and managed by Indians in the U.S. is back again. This is the 11th year that si100 companies will be selected and honored.

"The only honor role of its kind, the listing not only represents the continuing rise and glory of Indian entrepreneurship in high-tech but also identifies companies that have made the VCs, analysts, press and other CEO's take notice. Each year we select 100 companies that will create an impact on the market place," says Harvi Sachar, Founder and CEO, siliconindia, Inc.

By bringing a wide array of industry experts, ranging from technologists to venture capitalists including siliconindia editorial board, the final 100 will be selected on a subjective basis.

While considering a company to be on the si100 merit list, siliconindia will look into a particular company's management team, company performance, employees, customer traction and evaluate the potential impact on the industry.

One may nominate his/her company by sending a mail to:editor@siliconindia.com

1 Why limit it to only 100? Don't you think: More the merrier!
By the way, the readers would benefit most from a knowledge of the august SI
team (its background, experience, etc) evaluating the meritocracy of aspiring
CEOs & founders and those specific criteria guiding their selection. .

2 The news on SI are becoming more and more like the history of kings & princes.
The success of the Indian economy is not because of some 100 CEOs which have
been honored 1000 times by such journals. Rather, the Indian success depends
strongly on the fact that we have a large population of competent engineers,
professionals, highly-educated middle class who have helped create not only
strong companies but also the economy within which these companies as well as
foreign ones, can sell their products and solutions.

After 11 years of SI, I believe it is time for them to honour, respect and
motivate this growing class of professionals, analyse markets critically and
provide directions to these people, where the world will be heading tomorrow.
Else, SI will remain forever "just another" sidestream e-zine to check during
lunch hours....
