Dubai: A set of poems written by Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been turned into a television series that is being aired by a channel throughout the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Dubai TV started broadcasting the 30-episode series, called 'Struggle on the Sands', from Monday night.

The series is the biggest drama production in the UAE costing over $6 million, the Khaleej Times reported.

It is about two Arab tribes that lived in the Arabian peninsula in the 18th century during the time of the Ottoman invasion.

Latest technology and Spanish experts were used in the series, which was shot extensively in Dubai, Palmyra in Syria and Marrakesh in Morocco.
