Another Karunanidhi work to be made into movie
Chennai: Yet another work of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's will be made into a movie, its actor-turned-producer-director R. Thiagarajan told reporters Thursday.
Thiagarajan's son Prasanth plays the main protagonists Ponnar and Shankar in the film. "Ponnar Shankar" was penned by Karunanidhi during the sixties.
The historical characters Ponnar and Shankar belong to the Gounder community that is mainly found in modern day Coimbatore, Erode and Salem districts of Tamil Nadu and several parts of Karnataka.
"When we met the chief minister and expressed our desire to make the movie, he said my son fitted his imagination," Thiagarajan said.
"When we conveyed our decision to the CM about my offer to play both the roles, though Kalaignar initially wanted different actors for the main characters, he relented," Prasanth told reporters.
The next project of his company would be based on Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (dealing with matrimonial cruelty), Thiagarajan said. Prasanth's marriage to Grihalakshmi was saved in the nick of time from the verge of a messy divorce last year.

Comment 1: Hi,
False 498A case has been Quashed by Mumbai High Court and order is as under:-
http://bombayhighcourt.nic.in/data/crim ... 020708.pdf
The matter is quashed after the mutual settlement between the complainant and
Accused No. 1 ( Ex-husband and Ex-Wife).
The Honourable Court says, " The differences between parties were essentially personal
in nature". The Court has clearly given opinion that, "The criminal proceedings were Misuse
of Police and Judicial machinery and the case was essentially personal".
Other members of the family who were named in the false complaint and have greatly
suffered during the last Six years are not party to the said settlement agreement.
We are family of USA Citizens. There were Non- bailable arrest warrant against entire
family and Look-Out-Notices posted at airports.
My wife and Son were arrested at Mumbai Air-port on 29.06.2003 while returning to USA
after a short visit to India. They got the bail and return of passports after Extortion of
about Rs. Five Lakhs. They were jailed for 2 days and detained in India for 15 days.
I have personally suffered losses of over Rs.25 Lakhs, as I was compelled to pull
back all my Investments and sell my property under power of attorney in India for
fear of declaration of Proclaimed offender.
The BITCH also tried to enter into the possession of my property with the excuse of
"Right to Residence".
She is a Lawyer enrolled with Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
She is presently working in Dubai UAE. Her father is also Lawyer
practising in Mumbai High Court
Regards.
