Carla Bruni's new recording goes on sale
Paris: Accompanied by broad media interest, the newest recording by France's First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, went on sale Friday.
Titled "Comme si de rien n'etait" (As If Nothing Happened) and released under her artistic name, Carla Bruni, it contains 14 songs, most of which were written by the former top model before she met Sarkozy in November of last year.
Nearly 2 million people have already heard the music on the internet, where the album was available for listening, but not downloading, for several weeks before its official release.
Because of security reasons, Bruni will not be able to go on tour to advertise the CD, which consists primarily of songs about love and desire performed in her customary smoky-voiced style.
One of the songs, "Ma Came" (My Stuff), has already provoked protests in Columbia because it compares her desire to cocaine addiction.
"I love to write songs about extreme emotions," Bruni has said, "but I have never really suffered much in love."
