Alok Ohrie to lead EMC India & SAARC
New Delhi: EMC, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, has announced that Alok Ohrie will succeed Manoj Chugh as the President of EMC India & SAARC Region. Ohrie, a 20-year IT industry veteran in India, joins EMC from AMD where he was the Vice President & Managing Director for AMD's India operations. Manoj Chugh has been promoted to lead the Global Accounts Practice for EMC in Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ).
Prior to joining AMD, Ohrie spent 13 years with IBM Global Services India in a number of executive management positions, including Director of the Systems and Technology Group for India and South Asia. During the early part of his career, Ohrie worked at Wipro Infotech and ESPL. Ohrie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics and Communication from National Institute of Technology (formerly REC) Suratkal.
"India is an important and strategic market where EMC has announced more than $500 million worth investments, and Bangalore is home to one of our two Centres of Excellence located in Asia Pacific & Japan," said Ron Goh, President, EMC South Asia.
Ohrie brings 20 years of IT-industry focused business-management experience to EMC. He will lead EMC's India & SAARC sales and service organizations with responsibility for the region's total revenue, its current and future customers, and EMC's various partners. Ohrie will work closely with Sarv Saravanan, who is responsible for EMC's Centre of Excellence based in Bangalore, to expand EMC's products and services capabilities in India.
