Entrepreneurship unbounded at TieCon 2008
California: Santa Clara Convention Center in California is set to host TiEcon 2008, the premier and largest convention for entrepreneurs on May 16 and 17. As instant global connectivity and transformative business models are erasing boundaries and crumbling barriers - for sharing ideas and information, getting financing, talent, and gaining customers, the mega forces are coming together to unleash the next generation of entrepreneurship at TiEcon 2008. More than 4000 successful entrepreneurs and leaders from the frontlines will explore on how to break free of conventional thinking and leverage the revolutionary ways to realize the dreams of profitable entrepreneurship by building agile teams, raising the right amount of capital, and generating a buzz.
Ajay Chopra, co-convener TiEcon 2008 and a venture capitalist with Trinity Ventures said "The theme for TiEcon 2008 is Entrepreneurship Unbounded: Inspiration from the Frontlines. With this theme in mind, we have lined up impressive keynote speakers for both days, which includes Peter Thiel, Founder and President of Clarium Capital, ex-CEO of PayPal, and a board member at Facebook, who is probably the most prominent thought leader in web social media."
Followed by the success of the Entrepreneur's Bazaar in previous edition of TieCon, this year too TieCon would showcase Entrepreneur's Bazaar. Entrepreneurs Bazaar, popularly referred to as E-Bazaar will facilitate unique opportunities for entrepreneurs to receive mentoring from successful entrepreneurs and schedule quality one-on-one time with VCs and other experts to discuss requirements in venture capital, legal, and finance areas. E-Bazaar is designed to provide a support system to entrepreneurs and help them accelerate their ventures to the next level. To help accomplish this, Entrepreneurs Bazaar participants meet prior to TiEcon for face-to-face mentoring sessions with experienced entrepreneurs who are TiE charter members. In TiEcon 2008, participants are expected to use this feedback to craft and hone their presentations for their meetings with venture capitalists.
"TiEcon 2008 is taking TiE back to its roots and will be a true source of mentoring and inspiration to hundreds of entrepreneurs ? including me," said Manish Chandra, co-chair of TiEcon 2008 and CEO, Kaboodle. The other high-profile speakers include Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and chairman, Tesla Motors and SolarCity; John C. Martin, CEO, Gilead; and John Wood, founder and CEO, Room to Read. TiEcon 2008 will also feature former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz, a former executive of Citi Bank, Bill Campbell, Chairman of Intuit and a board member Apple Computer, who is an expert on building scalable companies. Other interesting keynote panels: one showcases CEOs who have built billion dollar companies in India while the other, with Kara Swisher of The Wall Street Journal as moderator, showcases entrepreneurs who have achieved explosive growth in the shortest period of time.
Raj Jaswa, President, TiE Silicon Valley said "TiECon's exciting growth is based on embracing new kinds of entrepreneurs, which will ensure we will continue to expand our reach and influence in the entrepreneurial marketplace."
Since TieCon's founding in 1992, TiE has grown to become the world's largest organization for entrepreneurs and professionals, with membership spread across 48 chapters in 11 countries. Its membership includes over 1,600 experienced entrepreneurs and business executives as charter members, and over 10,000 aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals as members.
