Buddhism has become increasingly popular in the West and many other parts of the world today. However, unfortunately, it has become extinct in the very land of its birth. The Spririt of Buddhism fills the yawning gap between Historical and Geographical roots. The relevance of Gautam Buddh's life and teachingsin the Twenty-first century have been dealt with in great detaisl, making insightful comparisons with other world religions such as Hinduism and Christianty. Light has also been shed on Buddhist mythology and the differences amongst various schools and sects of Buddhism with elegance and objectivity.

About the author Sri Hari singh ws born in 26 Nov., 1872. He passed his B.A., L.L.M, and his L.L.D, from Downing College cambridge and his D.Litt. from Delhi University. Mayor of Nagpur from 1918-1922, he led the first Parliamentary Committee appointed to draw up a Constitution for India, and was the Chairman of the Quinquennial Conference of Universities of British Commonwealth, (cambridge, 1936). Accomplished the rare feat of being the president of the Bar Association of the High Court of Nagpur for twenty-five years. He was the first Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, 1922-29. Knighted in 1935, he became the Voce-Chancellor of Nagpur University.
